The Teenage Pregnancy Partnership offers a wide range of training opportunities which are available FREE to practitioners.



E-Learning - Teenage Pregnancy Awareness

The aim of this training is to provide some basic training around teenage pregnancy and the needs of young parents. The training is aimed at health visitors, youth workers, social workers, family outreach workers – in fact anyone who works with young parents or parents to be.

There are clear targets around supporting young parents to return to education and employment and a local commitment to engage with young parents. It is important that practitioners understand some of the barriers that young parents can face when accessing services and some of the behaviours and attitudes they may encounter.

This session is of relevance to practitioners who wish to update and enhance their understanding and confidence around this complex area. The training will explore the scope and range of the sexual offences act and the legal implications of under age sexual activity. It will identify ways in which we can offer confidential services to young people within the framework of the sexual offences act and best practice.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)

This new session provides some original and innovative ideas for delivering relationships and sex education (RSE) to students aged 13-16 years old . Delegates will be introduced to a range of age appropriate activities and exercises for effective delivery in both small groups and class room settings. It is aimed at all those that deliver RSE in formal and informal settings including; teaching staff, school nurses, youth workers and support workers.

Safer Sex Overview

This session provides an introductory overview of sexual health, teenage pregnancy and young people and is recommended for staff who wish to increase their confidence around these issues to support their work with young people. The session also includes tips for engaging with young people around sex and relationship issues and information around local services.
